Solomon's Children began work in May 2002, and was registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales in October 2003 (Registered Charity No: 1100231). At the time of our registration, it was thought fitting for us to name the charity in memory of Solomon Ochaya, who had passed away in Mulago Hospital, Kampala, on 13th April of that year. Solomon's devotion to his children, and the high value he placed upon their education, was felt to be a model for us all.
Solomon's devotion to his children, and the high value he placed upon their education, was felt to be a model for us all. The object of Solomon's Children is to 'advance education and to relieve poverty, sickness and distress of young people in Uganda who have lost one or both parents'. We fund the secondary and tertiary education of young people in Uganda, through a network of non-governmental and community-based organizations.
